Struggling

If I'm perfectly honest I have to let all know I'm stuggling with several issues in my life right now. I've been feeling a bit like giving up on a lot of things. While I am still unsure exactly what to do I have been writing in my journal. It's been a journey of discovery. There's also a certain element of depression creeping into my soul. I am most often good at dealing with this, but lately I haven't been. For me winter is the most difficult time of the year. Here in Perth, Western Australia we've had days and days of rain and wind and cold. It really gets to me. When the sun shines I can be found sitting out absorbing the great light into my life.

What about you? How do the seasons alter your mood or general well-being? Are you aware of this at all? Spend some time rereading journal entries from other seasons to compare. When I began tracking my moods in my journal I began to notice a pattern of low moods during winter. Write about this in your journal, but please share your thoughts in the section below, too.

  1. I actually enjoy the changing of the seasons. When I lived in Darwin it was hot and humid 365 days a year, and even in Sydney the temperate climate made things even out. But here in Adelade the seasons have definition and I try to celebrate and embrace the differences. Being stuck inside day after wet day with the kids can be frustrating but I push myself to think of things to do. Bring the plastic slide inside, set up a 'sandpit' using cheap rice in a crate in the kitchen, I make the most of the challenge. The mental challenge of thikning stuff up and the physical challenge of actually doing it seems to help keep the black dog away (he just appears in my life from time to time with no rhyme or reason.)

Stay strong. Your readers care for you and wish you the best.

I don't think the season effect me as much as hormones do. PMS is a pain. But even so I do think the sun has a lot to do with mood and it often makes me feel better if I feel like I've been shut inside for too long.

  3. Hi Flamehair,
Lol, can imagine getting a bit too much of the warm weather, as I used to live on the Gold Coast, but I find myself longing for the sunshine here during winter. I do enjoy each season, though. I think there is something wonderful to celebrate in each one. Thanks for your comment. ;-)

  4. Thanks Laura,
I think it's great you're aware what it is that effects you. It's one of the things I like about journal writing, because it helps you to sort out things like that. Thanks for the comment. ;-)

  5. Really feel for you regarding the struggles. Hope things start looking up soon enough.

And, while I try hard not to let it go to me too much, I must admit that I'm not a big fan of winter either. Especially since I grew up not knowing what that really meant. :-)

Anyway, I really do wish you well. Take care always.
